ances at our/and made our workmen the victims of their bullying. From May the 1st this year our Chinese bona-fide workmen will be granted freedom of association to promote their own welfare and the general interests of China.
Therefore May the 1st
should become one of our traditional festivals and should
therefore deservedly be commemorated most of all by our workmen. I should shout then as my eleventh slogan, "Overthrow all counterfeit labour unions and support the organisations of bona-fide workmen".
The Kuomintang will no longer allow any Communists to associate themselves with the Party, or sheltering under its name do it and China harm by multifarious cunning and knavish intrigues or traitorous and underhand plotting. Furthermore they will not be permitted any longer to deceive our Chinese masses after the manner of the dog-butcher who advertises sheep's heads but substitutes dog's flesh for purchasers. The genuine Central Department of the Kuomintang and the Nationalist Government have established their capital in Nanking, and are working hard to overthrow both the Peking Militarists who are in alliance with the Imperialists, and the Communists in Tuhan who have under the direction of Borodin brought dire calamity down on the people of Hu-nan and Hupeh, particularly the working classes, and rendered them so helpless that they can find no way of escape between Heaven above or Earth beneath. The Kuomintang and the Nationalist Government must strive to solve this question of the livelihood of the whole people, and therefore I should give you as a twelfth slogan, "Support the genuine Kuomintang and the Nationalist
